D A Nelson

Such is the glamorous life of an author that another week has gone by and I haven’t a clue how I’ve spent the time. Okay, taking daughter-and-heir to nursery has taken up a fair bit of time as has eating my mother’s home-made chicken soup and bread (she makes the best soup and bread, I’m salivating at the thought of it! It’s so good that when I was still living at home I survived an entire winter solely on her soup…ah, those heavenly days!). But, where did all the other hours go? Were they swallowed up by the Hour Taker (a bit like the Number Taker in Numberjacks. Parents of pre-school kids will know the character and programme…my daughter loves it)? Did someone make me sleep through them all (if only)? Nope, I’ve spent it cleaning up baby sick, doing washings, trying to dry clothes (our dryer packed in this week…sigh) and generally being a bit of a dog’s body.

Anyway, I have been managing to get some more work done on book 2 and I’m nearly finished. I was hoping to have the satisfaction of completing my draft 1 of book 2 tonight, but sleep beckons…besides, if I’m perfectly honest, I’ve run out of puff where writing is concerned (well I did get down more than 3,000 words today, so I feel vindicated at giving up for the night). Okay, if I hadn’t sat down and watched (again) the very excellent The Usual Suspects film, I might be further on. But I did and I thoroughly enjoyed it and I refuse to feel guilty about it. Tomorrow…I will finish the book tomorrow.
